Abstract A quantitative analysis on material and energy flowing of food chain of dandelion-tadpole-mud eel is reported in this paper). It is shown that the economic products of the food chain had lower material and energy transforming efficiency. The biomass, energy, N and P transforming efficiency were 1.1%, 0.8%, 3.1% and 1.5% respectively. However the food chain can stimulate the appetite of mud eels, which is beneficial to mud eels breeding.
